Date Update: School Board Zones

The Arkansas GIS Office maintains school board zone maps of the various school districts in the state which elect board members by zone.  Legislation in 2023 permitted the School Boards to revert to electing members by at-large instead of election by zone.  Following this legislation several school districts began adoption resolutions to change their election status.  With the recent primary election being completed, this publication update reflects the removal of these zones, after allowing multiple election cycles and board member terms to run their course.  The following school district boards have been revised accordingly.  Specific notes contained with the School Board resolutions are noted in the “Change” column in the table below.

Resolution to Elect At-Large 12/17/2024.  As each current Director position comes open for election based on current terms, the position will return to an at-large position covering the entire District until all remaining Director positions are at-large positions.
3/5/2026 4/9/2026 Franklin Charleston Zones 1, 2, & 5 deleted. Terms expired. Resolution to Elect At-Large 04/28/2025.  The Charleston School District shall transition to electing all members of the Board of
Education from at-large positions, effective upon the expiration of each current Director’s
term.
3/5/2026 4/9/2026 Baxter Cotter Zones 2, 3,  & 4 deleted. Terms expired. Resolution to Elect At-Large 10/19/2023. All current members will complete their current term and when the position is up for election, the position will then be elected as an at-large position, consistent with this resolution.
3/5/2026 4/9/2026 Benton Decatur Zones 1, 2, & 3 deleted. Terms expired. Resolution to Elect At-Large 07/22/2025. The Board resolves 4-year terms and At-Large Positions. At-Large Position 1 (Formerly Zone 1), At-Large Position 2 (Formerly Zone 2), and At-Large Position 3, (Formerly Zone 3)
4/9/2026 Carroll Eureka Springs Zones 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 deleted.  Terms expired. Resolution to Elect At-Large 11/11/2024. All current members will complete their current term and when the position is up for election, the position will then be elected as an at-large position, consistent with this resolution.
3/5/2026 4/9/2026 Miller Fouke Zones 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 deleted. Resolution to Elect At-Large 04/21/2025. The Fouke School District hereby dissolves the seven (7) single-member zones and shall henceforth elect its Board members from seven (7) at-large positions in the proper and predetermined  election cycle of its members.
3/5/2026 4/9/2026 Benton Gravette Zones 1, 2 & 3 deleted.  Terms expired. Resolution to Elect At-Large 06/02/2025
3/5/2026 4/9/2026 Polk Mena Zones 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 deleted.  Terms expired. Resolution to Elect At-Large 02/20/2024. The Board shall transition to a system of at-large membership within a period of two years from the date of this resolution. This transition will occur progressively as the terms of current zoned members conclude.
3/6/2026 4/9/2026 Crawford Mountainburg Zones 1 & 2 deleted. Terms expired. Resolution to Elect At-Large 11/18/2024. Effective the next Board election in 2025, each position that is scheduled for election shall be filled by an at-large vote of all registered voters in the District, and that process will continue in each successive election thereafter.

Effective the next Board election in 2025, each position that is scheduled for election shall be filled by an at-large vote of all registered voters in the District, and that process will continue in each successive election thereafter.
3/5/2026 4/9/2026 Washington Prairie Grove Zones 2, 3 & 4 deleted.  Terms expired. Resolution to Elect At-Large 05/21/2024. Resolution declared the intent of the Prairie Grove School District Board of Directors to have at large elections of all school board members.
3/5/2026 4/9/2026 Poinsett Trumann Zones 4 & 5 deleted.  Terms expired. Resolution to Elect At-Large 09/08/2025. Effective with the 2026 school board election, the method of electing members to the Trumann Board of Directors shall change from zoned elections to at-large elections.
