The Arkansas GIS Office provides technical support and plays an advisory role in the redistricting process for multiple levels of government.
The redistricting process requires sophisticated geographic information system (GIS) software and the 2020 Census PL94-171 Block file. No matter the level of redistricting, all levels use the same source data from the Census.
On August 3rd, 2020 the U.S. Census Bureau announced it will complete data collection and apportionment counts by the statutory deadline of December 31, 2020, as required by law and directed by the Secretary of Commerce. The Census Bureau’s new plan reflects our continued commitment to conduct a complete count, provide accurate apportionment data, and protect the health and safety of the public and our workforce. See the statement here: https://2020census.gov/en/news-events/press-releases/delivering-complete-accurate-count.html
