Please join us in congratulating Maria Owen in the GIS Office for achieving her International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) Level 4 Certified Appraiser credentials.  This builds on Maria’s Cadastral Mapping Specialist certification she earned last year from the same organization.

Maria has been through the spectrum of IAAO training courses offered by the International organization, that is the bench-mark of qualifications for professionals working in the real estate tax assessment and mass appraisal field.  The Level 4 designation is a Senior Appraiser role defined by the Arkansas Assessment Coordination Department.

We have always known for years that once the counties reached the point of having parcel GIS data mapped their next steps would be the integration of that data into the appraisal workflows, and particularly the mass appraisal analysis. Maria’s education now provides the agency even further insight into the process and will better equip the agency to advise counties as well as the Assessment Coordination Department on issues associated with mass appraisal and GIS analysis.

We are very proud of her accomplishment and the professional perception this brings to our agency.
