Sharon Hawkins is the Section Head of the GIS and Mapping Section at the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT). Sharon grew up in Greenbrier, Arkansas and currently resides in Saline County with her husband, Joe. Her career with the ARDOT began in 1999 as a Cartographer I.
Her Section is responsible for maintaining and publishing the Arkansas State Highway (Tourist) Map, producing county and city maps, performing GIS functions for the Transportation Planning and Policy Division as well as other offices at the ARDOT. Sharon is an active member of the GIS community not only in Arkansas but also with the nationwide transportation GIS community as a member of the GIS-T committee. Sharon graduated in the spring of 1999 from the University of Central Arkansas with a B.A. in Geography. Appointed on 10/3/2014 Expired on 8/1/2018 Reappointed on 10/30/2019 Expires on 8/1/2022 |
