This data provides the Hospital-Related Service information for the State of Arkansas to track disease related data in a mapping environment, and to do so in a way that electronic map information can be transmitted quickly and efficiently to those in the public health network. The database provides location information for use in local and regional cartographic and spatial analysis applications. It is the intention of the Arkansas Geographic Information Systems Board to facilitate dissemination of public data.
Data available online through the Arkansas Spatial Data Infrastructure (ASDI) at http://gis.arkansas.gov. This dataset contains points which represents the locations of all Hospital-Related Services in the State of Arkansas. The compilation of this data is a collaborative effort between the Arkansas Geographic Information Systems Office and the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) to build a comprehensive geographic database of Hospital-Related Services as a component of the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS). The Hospital-Related Services form a sub-component of the existing CDC Bioterrorism plan that involves the visualization application for disease detection and surveillance. A visual aid of Hospital-Related Service locations overlaid on current digital aerial photography, associated road names, and landmarks, were produced to representatives of ADH to confirm the accuracy of the location.

All Hospital-Related Service points are validated by visual inspection.
This dataset is visually inspected to ensure completeness of Hospital-Related Services already constructed and in operation. However, there may be new Hospital-Related Services under planning and construction which will also need to be incorporated in the future.
The accuracy of this data is dependent on the correctness of detail of the source material.

Manual location of Hospital-Related Services from field collected data. Address geocoding was performed by the ADH. Points were edited to the database by reference to digital color infrared photography, road, and street layer. Hospital-Related Services were then provided to ADH staff for field verification, and edits were made as needed.
