Fire protection services may be established as a function of municipal government services provided by a city or town.  For unincorporated areas the fire protection districts are established by the County Quorum Court pursuant to A.C.A. § 14-284-207.  Municipal Fire Districts within this collection are updated following the effective date of municipal boundary changes typically due to the addition of municipal territory through the annexation process.  These updates in turn necessitate adjustments to neighboring districts that continue to operate in county territory.  Municipal districts may also be affected by other municipal change processes such as detachment or consolidation.",

Arkansas Code Annotated (A.C.A.) §12-10-329, is a section of state law devoted to 9-1-1 public safety and dictates each fire district must maintain an accurate map that is certified by the Mayor, County Judge or County Fire Coordinator and transmitted to the Arkansas GIS Office. The statute requires the Arkansas GIS Office to maintain these maps and to assist the Arkansas 911 Board in carrying out its duties.<\/SPAN><\/P><\/DIV><\/DIV><\/DIV>",
