County Parcel Maps Online in Arkansas

Several Arkansas counties have successfully uploaded their parcel maps to the Web site www.parcelmaps.org as of Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010.

The site was created as a voluntary effort by the participating counties to assist those searching for parcel data in Arkansas. These counties, which include Boone, Crawford, Logan, Pope, and Sebastian, took advantage of the County Assessors Mapping Program (CAMP) to digitize the parcel data for their respective counties. By making their parcel data available online, the counties have created an advantage for economic development in their areas.

The next step for those counties will be creating a process for updating the parcel layers, according to Crawford County GIS Specialist Mike Hamby. Geographic Information Officer Shelby Johnson of the AGIO said, “We are really proud to see this site come online. It complements GeoStor by adding a lot more functions that are focused on parcels and it keeps with the tradition of GIS data sharing, which Arkansas is known for.”

Arkansas’ online parcel maps may be found at www.parcelmaps.org.
